Meet the 2025 Festival Participants!

Akhil Banerjee is a freshman double majoring in Cello Performance and Computer Science (BS) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He currently studies with Prof. Parry Karp. Prior to college, he received his formative cello instruction from Alexander Schutt. This is his first year in the Perlman Piano Trio.  In past summers, Akhil has participated in the Arianna Chamber Music Festival. Other high school experiences include participation in honors orchestras, Solo & Ensemble, and All-State Orchestra, all of which encouraged him to continue playing. During studies at UW-Madison, he hopes to find further musical enrichment and summer festival opportunities. Akhil’s hobbies include, but are certainly not limited to, table tennis, ice skating, and watching old television programs.

Alison Chung, a rising senior at Glenbrook North High School, studies violin with Desirée Ruhstrat. She has soloed with the Northeastern Illinois University Symphony Orchestra and the Glenbrook Symphony Orchestra, and was recently named 2nd runner-up in the 2025 Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra Stanger Young Artist Competition. Her orchestral roles include co-concertmaster of the Midwest Young Artist Conservatory Symphony Orchestra and concertmaster of the Glenbrook Symphony Orchestra.

A dedicated chamber musician, Alison is a member of Quartetto Speranza, an award-winning ensemble that received Bronze at the 2025 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. She also co-founded the Glenbrook Chamber Music Society, a student-led group that raises funds through community performances. Outside of music, she enjoys painting, reading, and playing golf with her younger brother.

Anaïs Feller is a 19-year-old violinist currently studying at the Curtis Institute of Music under Professor Midori Goto. At 16, she became one of the youngest violinists featured as a Performance Today Young Artist in Residence. She has soloed with orchestras such as the South Coast Symphony, Plano Symphony, San Angelo Symphony, and the Colburn Virtuosi.

Anaïs has performed on NPR’s From the Top and KPCC Los Angeles with her award-winning chamber group, the Olive Trio, which won the gold medal at the 2022 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and the Grand Prize at the Chicago International Music Competition. She has also received top prizes at the La Jolla Symphony Concerto Competition, Tibor Junior International Violin Competition in Switzerland, Pasadena Showcase String Competition, and others.

A passionate chamber musician and festival participant, Anaïs has attended the Fontainbleau of School of Music Summer Festival, Yellow Barn Chamber Music Festival, Morningside Music Bridge, and the International Menuhin Academy, among others.

Annalise Song, 16, is a scholarship student at the Music Institute of Chicago’s Academy, a training center for advanced pre-college musicians. She studies violin with Almita Vamos and Davis King. Annalise has been studying violin since the age of four with Betty Haag-Kuhnke and the Magical Strings of Youth. During this time, she has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City and for Mayor Fernando Medina in Lisbon, Portugal. Since then, Annalise has served as Concertmaster of the Symphony and Concert Orchestras at the Midwest Young Artists Conservatory and also as a violinist with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra (CYSO). Annalise has also participated in the ILMEA orchestra for the past three years. She has also received various violin accolades, such as winner of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Bach Double Competition, multiple scholarships awarded under the auspices of the Mary B. Galvin Foundation, honorable mention at the Seeing Music Competition in 2022 and 2019, honorable mention at the Depaul Concerto Festival in 2023 and 2018, and two-time winner at the Granquist Music Competition. Annalise has attended the Euro Music Festival and Academy in Poland where she studied under the auspices of instructors Michael Vaiman and Kyung Sun Lee. Annalise also attended Center Stage Strings summer program and other music festivals where she studied under Grigory Kalinovsky, Danielle Belen, and Simon James. Her pedagogy in violin also includes master classes with Vadim Gluzman, Stephanie Jeong, Pasha Sabouri, Julian Rhee, and Lisa Shihoten. Annalise is a tenth-grade student at Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Illinois, USA. In her free time, Annalise enjoys performing violin at her church and local retirement centers, being a student mentor to young string students, and volunteering at refugee homes.

Braden Wang is a fifteen year old freshman at Dublin High School. He has been studying violin under his teacher, Mr. James Choi, for ten years now. Braden is a former member of the Berkeley Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra (OSYO). Recently, he has been accepted as a member of the San Francisco Youth Symphony Orchestra. He has won many competitions including the Fremont Young Recitalist Competition, the OSYO concerto competition, and the United States Open Music Competition. Braden’s orchestra debut was with OSYO where he played the Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1 3rd Movement. In his free time, Braden enjoys running and playing chess.

Christina Pan, violin, is a junior at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where she studies Comparative Literature and Philosophy. NYC-born, she began playing violin at age five and has been recognized by National YoungArts and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. She was part of the New York Youth Symphony’s chamber music program and has performed in masterclasses with Hsin-Yun Huang, Kirill Troussov, Ken Noda, and Mika Sasaki. Her work spans classical performance, composition, and art rock; she plays violin in Wonk, a D.C.-based band. She also collects vinyl records and archival ephemera, with a focus on vintage media and material history.

My name is Daniel Gruber, and I’m a passionate cellist from Fort Wayne, Indiana. I spent five years in the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, which included a memorable performance at Carnegie Hall. During high school, I also played with the University of Saint Francis City Strings for three years and studied for two years at the Jacobs School of Music String Academy, including one summer at the Jacobs Summer String Academy. This fall, I’ll begin my sophomore year at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, where I’m pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Cello Performance. Studying at Jacobs has been an incredible opportunity to grow as both a soloist and ensemble musician. Outside of music, I enjoy spending time outdoors, going for walks, being with family and friends, and staying active in my church community. I’ve also worked at Chick-fil-A for the past five years, where I’ve learned the value of hard work, teamwork, and serving others—lessons that continue to shape who I am both on and off the stage.

David Rondeli Elyoussoufi was introduced to cello as a part of the Orchestra in the Schools Program when he was nine years old and began taking private lessons at the age of 11. He has been a member of Youth Music Monterey for the past seven years and currently leads a cello section in the honors orchestra as well as plays in the chamber program. David was selected to perform at Carmel Sunset Center Theatre for the 2020, 2021, and 2022 Carmel Bach Festival’s Young Musician Showcase concerts, and won Distinguished Performance awards for 2021 and 2022 performances. David twice won YMM Honors Concerto Competition and performed a Lalo Cello Concerto in February 2023 and Dvorak Cello Concerto in March 2025. David won 3rd place in Opus Competition for strings category in the state of California and Enkor Competition. He participated in various masterclasses and attended the Kinhaven and Ascent summer chamber music programs.

David Roche is a Frank Little Merit Scholarship recipient at the Music Institute of Chicago where he studies with Sang Mee Lee. His past teachers include Amy Biasello and Bridget Andes, in addition to training with Davis King and Jennifer Arnold at programs such as Sphinx Performance Academy and Center Stage Strings. David has extensive orchestral experience, playing with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra (CYSO) for the past 7 years. David served as co-principal of the CYSO Symphony Orchestra viola section for the 2024 Spring and Fall concert cycles. David is a Chicago Musical Pathways Initiative Fellow and has also been a member of the Musical Arts Institute’s Chicago Urban Chamber String Ensemble. He has performed at venues including the United Center, Northwestern Pick-Staiger Concert Hall, Chicago State University, and Symphony Center. David plans to attend Yale University this fall studying Music and Economics.

Felix Pipal is a rising junior and cellist from Mequon, Wisconsin, studying with Adrien Zitoun. He performs with his school’s symphony and chamber orchestras and participates in his city’s youth symphony orchestra. He has also taken part in local festivals and concerto competitions. He’s especially interested in chamber music and looks forward to developing his ensemble skills at Addicott.

Outside of music, he has an interest in engineering and enjoys working on design-based projects. He also plays volleyball and other sports. Through Addicott, he hopes to grow musically and connect with other dedicated young musicians.

Holly Bogle (Lancaster, United States) studies viola with Peter Slowik at Oberlin Conservatory. She has performed with Philadelphia Youth Orchestra, YCO Temple Music Prep, and the Trowbridge Quartet at the Settlement Music School. She has appeared as a soloist with the Lancaster Bible College Orchestra and the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra, and has performed a First Listen recital at the Mt. Gretna Playhouse. Holly has performed masterclasses for artists including: Tabea Zimmerman, Gloria DePasquale, Steven Tennenbom, Kerri Ryan, Midori, the Tackacs Quartet, and the Calidore Quartet. She has attended several music festivals including Credo, Lancaster International Piano Festival, Singapore Chamber Music Festival, Harpa International Music Festival, and has studied extensively with artists including Peter Kenote, Jonathan Ong, Sibbi Bernhardsson, Thomas Kraines, Ásdís Valdimarsdóttir, the Aoi Trio, the Jasper String Quartet, the Kronos Quartet, and the Dali Quartet. Holly is the violist in the Pandan Quartet and she has performed at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory, for a Lincoln Center CMS masterclass, as a semifnalist in the Coltman Competition, and was a Ban 2025 Winter Artists in Residence. She also pursuing an organ minor with Jonathan Moyer and a baroque minor with Edward Huizinga, she has also studied the 二胡 (erhu) internationally.

Violinist Jane Story, 18, of Stevens Point WI, has performed as a soloist with the Minnesota, Milwaukee Symphony, Madison Symphony, and Wisconsin Chamber Orchestras, among others. She has appeared on NPR’s From the Top, WPR’s The Midday, and the Salon se Lève Concert Series, and is the recipient of the 2025 Pierce Hill Performing Arts Fellowship and a 2023 Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award. Her honors include grand prize winner of the 2024 Minnesota Orchestra YPSCA’s Concerto Competition and the 2023 Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra’s Stars of Tomorrow Competition, and second prize winner of the 2024 Madison Symphony Orchestra’s The Final Forte, broadcast live on PBS Wisconsin and WPR.

Jane has been a member of the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestras’ Youth Orchestra and Pondrom Honors String or Piano Quartet for the past three years. With the quartet, she won the Silver Medal and BIPOC Prize at the 2023 Saint Paul String Quartet Competition. Jane began violin studies at the age of four and has studied with Dr. Anna Cromwell for the past six years. This fall, she will pursue an undergraduate degree in violin performance at Rice University, in the studio of Professor Paul Kantor.

Joel Lee is an up-and-coming cellist from Federal Way, WA. He is an incoming Graduate Assistant and MM in Performance candidate at Butler University, studying under Dr. Max Geissler. Joel has held principal positions in the Tacoma Youth Symphony, Central Washington University's Symphony and Chamber Orchestras, and regularly performs with the Wenatchee Valley Symphony Orchestra. Joel was a finalist at the 2024 and 2025 MTNA National Young Artist Competitions. He has made appearances at the Seattle Bach Marathon, Second City Chamber Series, ARIA International Music Academy, Music&More SummerFest in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and ENCORE Chamber Music Institute. His primary teachers are Max Geissler, John Michel, and Brian Wharton. Joel has also worked in lessons and masterclasses with Walter Gray, Wesley Baldwin, Jean-Michel Fonteneau, Brannon Cho, Dmitry Kouzov, Jonathan Dormand, Norman Fischer, Tommy Mesa, and Hans Jorgen Jensen. He has an interest in teaching, regularly appearing as a mentor and artist for the Second Series Chamber Series Youth Chamber Program. Joel performs on a Marc Laberte cello circa 1933, on loan from the Carlsen Cello Foundation

Jordan Taylor is a violist studying music performance and a member of the William O. Douglas Honors College at Central Washington University. After beginning violin in 5th grade, they soon decided to add viola as a secondary instrument and later made the full switch to “the dark side” in college.

During their time at CWU, Jordan has been involved in various orchestral and chamber ensembles across Washington State, including the Wenatchee Valley Symphony, Mid-Columbia Symphony, and the Willow Street Quartet, a professional gigging quartet. They won first place in the 2023 CWU Concerto Competition on the Clarke Sonata for Viola and Orchestra and recently expanded their artistic reach by making their international solo and chamber music debut in the summer of 2024 through the Zodiac Music Academy and Festival and Zephyr International Chamber Music Festival. Now, they have the immense privilege of working as a Teaching Artist for Yakima Music en Acción, a tuition-free social program modeled after Venezuela’s El Sistema. Jordan is passionate about promoting accessibility in musical communities and has been an advocate for injury prevention strategies for string instrumentalists.

Outside of school and practice, Jordan can be found crafting, baking, exploring the great outdoors, and caring for their houseplants.

Joy Shin is a rising junior from St. Louis, Missouri, who has been playing the viola for 7 years. She has participated in many music programs such as the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Preparatory Program at Webster's Community Music School, and her school's Symphonic Orchestra. She has also been a member of the Missouri All-State Orchestra, serving as assistant principal for the past two years.

Besides the viola, Joy enjoys being active and is part of her school's cross-country and track teams. In her free time, she enjoys playing the piano, journaling, and listening to music.

Julia Grady is a Master’s student studying Music Composition at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. They earned their Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance and Music Composition at Baldwin Wallace University’s Conservatory of Performing Arts, where they studied viola with Lembi Veskimets of The Cleveland Orchestra and composition with Dr. Carolyn Borcherding and Dr. Clint Needham. Previously, they attended the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, where they played in a masterclass for members of the Parker Quartet. They have participated in masterclasses given by the Cavani Quartet, as well as Stanley Konopka, Kirsten Doctor, Catherine Lees, and Caroline Coade. Grady is a Presser Foundation Undergraduate Scholar and recipient of the 2024 Mu Phi Epsilon Foundation Gerke Collegiate Artist Scholarship and 2025 Mu Phi Epsilon Foundation Alberta Denk Scholarship for instrumental excellence. They also received an honorable mention at the 2025 Ohio Viola Society Competition. Additionally, Grady has conducted research into the application of film theory terminology in vocal music and composition as a 2023 Summer Scholars Fellow and 2024-2025 Riemenschneider Bach Institute Scholar.

Julia Jacobsen is a Brazilian-American violinist from Greenville, South Carolina and now based in south Florida. She recently graduated from the University of South Carolina, earning degrees in violin performance and marketing while studying with Dr. Ari Streisfeld. This fall, Julia will begin her master’s studies at Lynn Conservatory under Andrés Cárdenes. Currently, she serves as the Principal Second Violinist of the Spartanburg Philharmonic, Section Violinist of the Aiken Symphony, and frequently performs with the Greenville Symphony, South Carolina Philharmonic, and Long Bay Symphony. Julia has previously attended the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria, National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute, Decoda Chamber Music Festival, and Next Festival of Emerging Artists, among others, and performed at major venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center. Concurrently with her musical pursuits, Julia has held marketing roles at Boulanger Initiative, the USC School of Music, Aiken Symphony, Spoleto Festival USA, and Interlochen Center for the Arts. Leona Liu earned her B.M. this spring from the Eastman School of Music, studying with Robin Scott, and will begin her M.M. at the Yale School of Music this fall, studying with Tai Murray. She recently made her solo debut with the Eastman Musica Nova playing Augusta Read Thomas' Violin Concerto No. 2 "Carillon Sky". She has attended summer festivals at Bowdoin, Lake George, Sarasota, Madeline Island, the Maine Chamber Music Seminar, and the Norfolk New Music Workshop. As a member of the Locus Trio, she won second prize at the MTNA National Chamber Music Competition and was awarded the Mentorship Grant from the Eastman Institute of Music Leadership to commission a new work for clarinet, violin, and piano. A supporter of living composers, Leona served on the board of OSSIA New Music for two years. Outside of music, Leona also graduated with a B.A. in linguistics and minor in mathematics from the University of Rochester.

Luke D’Silva is an 18-year-old violist from Portland, Oregon. He studies with Andrea Hawkins and has been mentored by Peter Slowik, Eric Nowlin, Annie Fullard, Sang Mee Lee, Davis King, Brian Quincey, and David Hattner. Luke is a 2025 National YoungArts Award Winner in Classical Music/Viola and a 2025 Institute Young Artist at Chamber Music Northwest. From 2022 to 2025, he served as Principal Viola of the Portland Youth Philharmonic Orchestra and received the 2024 Gershkovitch Award.

In 2024, Luke attended Center Stage Strings at the University of Michigan, where he was selected for the Advanced Chamber Music Program. He served as Principal Viola of the 2023 Oregon All-State and All-Northwest Orchestras, as well as 2023 NYO2, after being Assistant Principal in 2022 NYO2. He also joined OrpheusPDX’s Pathways Program in 2023.

Luke has won several competitions, including Cognizart’s 29th Young Artists Debut!, Eugene Symphony’s 2023 Young Artist Competition, 2023 and 2024 Oregon State Solo Contest for Viola, 2025 Beaverton City Youth Arts Awards, and a 2025 Oregon Music Hall of Fame Scholarship. He is a founding member of Euphonos Ensemble and serves as Co-Regional Director of Portland’s The Back to Bach Project.

Madalyn Clements, 18, resides in West Bloomfield, Michigan. Her interest in the violin began at age 7 after attending a community orchestra performance. She started taking lessons at age 8 and continues to study with her longtime teacher, Sharon Rothstein. A special memory of hers is attending a Perlman Music Program concert in Sarasota, Florida, where she met Itzhak Perlman and received his autograph.

Madalyn has had the privilege of playing in masterclasses for many exceptional musicians, including Sibbi Bernhardsson, Grigory Kalinovsky, Desirée Ruhstrat, Danielle Belen, Annie Fullard, Mike Klotz, and Charles Castleman. One of her favorite aspects of playing the violin is the collaboration involved in chamber music. She began performing with her studio’s children's chamber group as soon as she could read music.

Her summer studies have included programs such as Interlochen, Credo, Bravo! Summer Festival, the Preludio Violin Program, Castleman Quartet Program, Conservatory Audition Workshop, and the Ascent Summer Chamber Music Festival. This fall, Madalyn will pursue a violin performance major at Florida International University, studying under Professor Avi Nagin of the Amernet Quartet.

Noah Carr was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. He currently pursues his bachelors degree at the University of Michigan, where he studies violin with Danielle Belen. 

Noah is a semi-finalist and honorable mention recipient in the Sphinx Competition. He won first place in the MYS’ Concerto Competition and the senior divisions of both the Oregon ASTA competition and the Oregon Mozart Players soloist competition, and was selected as a 2022 Young Artist Ambassador for the All Classical Portland radio station. 

Noah debuted with the Oregon Symphony at sixteen, and has soloed with the Oregon Mozart Players chamber orchestra and the MYS Symphony Orchestra.  He has attended summer music programs including the Sphinx Performance Academy, Meadowmount school of music, and Center Stage Strings. Noah has participated in masterclasses with violinists including Elena Urioste, Jennifer Koh, Espen Lilleslåtten, Simone Lamsma, Rachel Barton Pine, and Areta Zhulla. ​

Noah performs on an instrument made in 1900 by Paul Bailly, generously loaned to him by the Virtu Foundation, and a Paul Siefried bow.

Oliver Runnoe is a junior at Whitefish Bay High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is currently assistant principal in the Whitefish Bay High School Chamber Orchestra. He has participated in the Wisconsin State Music Association's Solo and Ensemble and the State Honors Orchestra for five years, receiving the highest rank. Oliver has participated in the National Federation of Music Clubs and attained a Superior rating for the eleventh consecutive year. He spent two consecutive years playing for the University of Wisconsin Summer Music Clinic and one year playing for the Lawrence Summer Music Institute. He is also a member of a piano trio at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music and plays in the Milwaukee Community Orchestra. His teacher is Scott Cook, founder of the Cello Institute of Milwaukee and director of I Cellisti, a cello ensemble.

Reid Huntley, a seventeen-year-old rising senior at Eureka High School, has been playing the viola since the age of nine. He currently studies with Joanna Mendoza of the Arianna String Quartet. Reid has had the privilege of participating in the Young People’s Symphonic Orchestra at the Community Music School of Webster University, CMS’s Preparatory Program, Missouri All-State Orchestra, and the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. Additionally, he has participated in summer festivals with renowned faculty such as the Arianna Chamber Music Festival and Madeline Island Chamber Music for Strings. Most recently, he was honored as a 2025 Rader Young Artist with the Chamber Music Society of St. Louis, and competed in the finals of the 2025 St. Paul String Quartet Competition.

Ryan Tully (21), a distinguished young violinist from Tenafly, NJ, is recognized for his exceptional talent and commitment to music. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance at The New England Conservatory (NEC) as a student of Paul Biss. Ryan has held prestigious roles, including his current position as principal second violin of the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.

An accomplished performer, Ryan has served as concertmaster in a side-by-side concert with the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra and showcased his artistry in international chamber music tours to Vienna and Salzburg. Beyond the concert hall, Ryan has contributed to community engagements, performing at Lincoln Center and senior centers, inspiring diverse audiences with his music.

Sebastian Tsai is a 17 year old violinist from California. His music journey began when he was 5, and he has been playing for over 11 years. He is currently studying with Elbert Tsai and was previously enrolled in the San Francisco Conservatory of Music precollege division for two years. Sebastian has previously won prizes in USOMC and the Charleston International Music Competition and played in the Junior Bach festival, and has performed in Carnegie Hall as a grand prize recipient of the Concert Festival Competition. Outside of music, he enjoys golfing and watching sports.
